PHC moved against recruitment in Pedo
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) was moved against recruitment in the Power Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) for Balakot and Lawi projects.
A writ petition was filed by Syed Azaz Ahmed and others. They are seeking to stop interviews for recruitment, terming it violation of the fundamental rights of petitioners and against the rules.
The counsel for petitioners, Babar Khan Yousafzai, filed the writ petition seeking to declare impugned advertisement as illegal. He argued that the rules under which the advertisement was placed had been repealed.
The petition said that the existing employees were neglected in the recruitment process for higher positions.
Pedo is recruiting BPS-18 and above employees for Balakot and Lawi projects which are being constructed with help of the World Bank. The petition stated that the fresh recruitment was against law and rules.
The recruitment is being made on the basis of favouritism and nepotism without considering
due experience and neglecting the existing Pedo engineers.
It stated that Secretary Muhammad Zubair Khan and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Naeem Khan were allegedly working on agenda of former adviser for Pedo Himayatullah Khan.
The petition stated that existing employees were well-trained and had gone through proper procedure on merit.
