The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation continued operations against encroachments in various parts of the city on Saturday.
According to details shared by the corporation’s anti-encroachment director Bashir Siddiqui, the anti-encroachment operation is under way in all the seven districts of the city on the directions of the Supreme Court.
The anti-encroachment operations, he explained, were being carried out along several storm water drains of the city.
In District Central, the operation is being held at 10 different spots along the mighty Gujjar Nullah, he said, adding that in District West and District Keamari, encroachments were being removed along the second biggest drain of the city, Orangi Nullah.
Meanwhile, in District East, a vast area of encroachments on the Aladin Park, he said, had been removed.
In District South’s Saddar area, encroachments were removed at two locations on Saturday. On June 14, 2021, the Supreme Court had declared the encroachments on both of the locations illegal, and ordered their demolitions within two days.
In District Korangi’s Landhi No VI and Korangi 51-B, green belts were cleared of encroachments. Illegal occupations were also removed in District Malir’s UC-12, Siddiqui said.
