Gang war commander shot dead in Lyari
An alleged local commander of the Lyari gang war was shot dead by unknown assailants in the Lyari neighbourhood on Saturday.
According to police, the incident took place near Dubai Chowk within the limits of the Baghdadi police station.
After getting information, police and rescuers reached the crime scene and transported the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi where was identified as 25-year-old Naseer Baloch, son of Javed Baloch. Police said that the gangster was associated with the Baba Ladla group and was the commander of the Dubai Chowk area of Lyari.
He was allegedly involved in various cases of crime, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and kidnapping. He had been recently released on bail by an anti-terrorism court.
Police suspected that the gangster was trying to activate the network of the Baloch Liberation Army in Lyari. They also suspected that there was a conflict between the Baba Ladla’s brother, Zahid Ladla, and the gangster. Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
Four criminals held
Four wanted suspects were arrested on Saturday by the Sindh Rangers and police in an intelligence-based joint operation in the Old Golimar area. They were allegedly involved in target killings, kidnappings for ransom and drug peddling, says an APP report.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Riaz, alias Batakkh, Tauqeer Ahmed, Wishal and Tanveer, said a spokesperson for the paramilitary force. They were reportedly involved in more than 250 robberies and mobile snatching crimes in different areas of the city, including Nazimabad, New Golimar, Garden and Lasbela Chowk.
They have also reportedly confessed to killing of an auto-parts trader, Shabbirur Rehman, and his nephew in the Old Golimar area on June 21, 2021.
Meanwhile, a suspect, Syed Mehtab Haider Kazmi, said to be the chief of a gang involved in selling crystal meth was arrested by the Sindh Rangers and police in a separate intelligence-based joint operation in the Mehmoodabad area.
The accused is reportedly involved in the trade of crystal meth and heroin and confessed to the purchase of the drugs from a man known as Bhaiyya in the Lea Market area of Lyari and a woman known as Mai of the Kala Board area in Malir.
After his arrest, the Rangers handed him over to police for initiation of legal proceedings.
Girl hangs herself
A teenage girl allegedly ended her life in a house in Surjani Town on Saturday.
Responding to reports, police and rescuers reached the property in Behram Goth and took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. The girl was identified as 18-year-old Alisha, daughter of Abdur Rasheed.
Sharing the initial findings of an ongoing investigation, police said the girl hanged herself from a ceiling fan over unexplained reasons.
