The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, Sindh inspector general of police (IGP), Rangers director general (DG) and others on a petition against alleged detention of an Awami Workers Party activist by law enforcement agencies.

Petitioner Fouzia Seengar submitted that her spouse Seengar Noorani was picked up allegedly by personnel of law enforcement agencies on June 26 in Kamber-Shahdadkot and his whereabouts were still unknown.

She submitted that the detainee was taken into custody without the commission of any offence and no FIR had been lodged against him. She requested the high court to direct the police and other law enforcement agencies to produce her husband and provide details of cases, if any, against him. The SHC, after the preliminary hearing of the petition, issued notices to the IGP, Rangers director general and others, and called their comments.
