KARACHI: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head and the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been discharged from a hospital in Karachi on Thursday after being treated for a week there.
Fazl was not feeling well from June 22 when he arrived in Karachi to attend the party’s activities in the province. The activities included addressing the ‘meet the press event at Karachi Press Club on June 24 and meet leaders of various political personalities in the province.
However, because of his health’s condition, all activities were postponed.
JUI-F’s central spokesperson Aslam Ghouri told The News that doctors at the hospital declared Rehman’s health condition satisfactory and discharged him from the hospital. Ghouri said that Fazlur Rehman will go to Islamabad on Thursday night and also attend the PDM’s rally in Swat valley on Sunday (July 4).
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ chief and former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif telephoned Rehman’s brother and JUI-F Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief Maulana Ataur Rehman to inquire health of the PDM chief and also asked him to deliver a special message to his brother.
During the conversation, Nawaz said that Fazlur Rehman is the face of Pakistan’s struggle for civilian supremacy.
