RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, primarily granted an ad-interim relief to the effect of restraining Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) from carrying out any construction work whatsoever on Dadhocha Dam.

The FWO through Barrister Husnain Ali Chaudhry filed an application for the vacation of the stay order and it pleaded that the petition was not maintainable and the entire saga revolved around factual controversy which could not be undertaken by the court in its constitutional jurisdiction.

Moreover, it was pleaded that Rawalpindi and Islamabad were facing water shortage and hence on account of national emergency, it was necessary to resolve the matter in question at the earliest. The high court after hearing the arguments lifted the injunction on the construction of dam to allow the FWO to complete the construction work of the dam in the national interest.
