A group of blind persons staged a protest and blocked Court Road on Thursday to build pressure on the authorities concerned to fulfil their demands. As the protesters blocked the road, police came into action and dispersed the protesters.
Aram Bagh SHO Panwar Kumar said that the police did not use force against the blind persons who were staging a protest and blocking the road. He said they were allowed to have a meeting with authorities concerned, who assured them of their fully cooperation in providing them with jobs, free medication and other facilities.
The police officer said 21 blind persons were staging the protest and no one was arrested nor was any case registered against them. Upon the authorities’ assurance, the protesters dispersed and returned to the Karachi Press Club, warning the authorities that they would come against today to stage a protest if their demands were not met.
