LAHORE: The Punjab Information Commission (PIC) has punished the Faisalabad education authority chief with Rs50,000 fine for denying a teacher access to information regarding his service papers. PIC Commissioner Mehboob Shah had ordered the chief executive officer of Faisalabad education authority on June 20 to provide service documents to a former teacher Basra Khan who had complained the authority had not provided him his service documents. He also complained his salary and provident fund had not been transferred to his bank account since his retirement in 2016.

The CEO did not take the directive seriously and whatsapped a letter to the commission’s staff. The commissioner warned the CEO and information officer of legal action if the Basra’s grievance was not redressed by July 13.
