SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court, circuit bench, at Sukkur on Wednesday adjourned the petition hearing till July 08, against PPP leader Khursheed Shah’s illness and stay at the NICVD Sukkur, which was declared sub-jail.

Reports said the SHC Sukkur had ordered the concerned authorities, including Additional Advocate General Shafi Muhammad Chandio and Administrator NICVD Dr Naveed, to submit their reports on Khursheed Shah’s alleged illness and reasons to declare NICVD’s floor as sub-jail for the convict of Rs1.23 billion corruption reference. It is pertinent to mention that the PTI Sindh leader Syed Tahir Shah filed a case in SHC Sukkur, challenging the alleged illness of Khursheed Shah and his stay in NICVD Sukkur for the past two years, which was declared a sub-jail for him.

The administrator NICVD presented his report in the court, in which he said the convict has cardiovascular disease and diabeties for the past two years, and being treated at the institute, while some important medical investigation reports are still awaited.

Additional advocate general also submitted his report, stating that Sindh home department, on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, had declared the third floor of the NICVD Sukkur as sub-jail for the convict.

The NAB prosecutor submitted his report, and told the court that the Bureau had arrested the alleged criminal Khursheed Shah in Rs1.23 billion corruption reference and the NAB court had sent him to jail.

Meanwhile, Justice Sial expressed his utmost displeasure over the reports, especially being submitted by the NICVD, the government and NAB prosecutor, asked the NICVD’s representative to tell the court that how many other patients were being hospitalised in the last two years with having the same illness and what treatments those patients had been given. The NICVD’s representative could not provide any detail to the court, while the judge also asked the Sindh’s additional advocate general to tell under which law, the convict had been given such special facilities. The judge also asked the details of meetings being convened by the convict Khursheed Shah at the NICVD and who had given him the permission.

Sindh’s AAG told the court that he did not know who had given the convict the permission to hold meetings in NICVD. The court remarked that it had been happening under the eyes of NAB, and in this case the NAB did not look serious, although the NAB has been arresting people without any arrest warrants, and keeping them in their custody for two years. Meanwhile, the petitioner’s counsels requested the court to order a medical team, in which a member must be included from Army Medical Corps to make the investigation transparent, and it would also determine the alleged illness of the convict, who had been given the entire third floor of the NICVD to convene his political meetings.

By our correspondent

SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator and Chairman Standing Committee on Power in Senate, Engineer Saifullah Abro, has said Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted to see Pakistan out of the darkness of loadshedding and proceed towards prosperity.

While talking to a delegation of Hydroelectric Labour Union of SEPCO, Engineer Saifullah Abro said there was a proposal to get Rs1,000 from every individual, who was involved in electricity theft through Kunda connection. Mentioning PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah, who was accused of Rs1.23 billion corruption, he said he was surprised after knowing that there are 40 air conditioning units being used at Shah’s house but his monthly electricity bill was only Rs9,000, while being a senator, he paid Rs400,000 to Rs500,000 per month in electricity bills.

Senator Engineer Saifullah Abro said the elected representatives of the Sindh government did not even allow the police to register a case against the power thieves, even when the Sepco officials wanted to get the FIRs registered against them.

He said the Rangers should be used alongside the power officials to prevent power theft. He said despite all odds, the PTI government has been taking all possible measures to bring prosperity to the people of Larkana.
