70 arrested in Mardan operations
MARDAN: As many as 70 persons including seven proclaimed offenders and their two abettors, and also recovered weapons during operations in the district on Wednesday.
A spokesman said that on the directives of District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan, the cops, led by sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs), arrested seven proclaimed offenders and two abettors in various crimes in several rural and urban areas of Mardan district.
The cops also recovered seven pistols, one Kalashnikov, one rifle, and 128 bullets from the possession of the outlaws. Also, the cops nabbed 61 suspects on nakabandis for further investigations.
144 candidates appear in police test: Meanwhile, a recruitment test was held at the offices of DPO in Mardan for the children of those police officers who died in the line of duty.
A total of 144 candidates appeared in the written test, including 60 candidates from Mardan district, 22 from Swabi, 42 from Charsadda and 20 candidates from Nowshera district. On the occasion, DPO Mardan Dr Zahidullah, DPO Swabi Shoaib Khan and other officials monitored the test.
