LAHORE: National Hockey Selection Committee Chairman Olympian Manzoor Jr said on Wednesday that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) had started the process of central contracts for the welfare of national players.
At a press conference at PHF headquarters at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore, he said all powers have been delegated to the Chairman Selection Committee and the Head Coach.
Manzoor added that the athletes’ performance would be checked every month. Recommendations will be made for the Central Contract based on the players’ physical fitness tests, sports proficiency tests, and the player’s performance in the game.
The Chairman Selection Committee and the Head Coach will formulate these recommendations within three days every month and send them to the PHF.
The final approval will be given by the PHF president Brig. (r) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
Head Coach National Hockey Team Olympian Khawaja Junaid said on the occasion that the central contract has been divided into three categories. Category A players will get Rs50,000, Category B Rs40,000 and Category C Rs30,000.
In this regard, top 30 senior and junior players from the PHF Players Pool will be invited to test their abilities.
Junaid added that the quality of fitness and performance of the players will determine their central contract category.
