PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to accelerate the shifting of the marble factories from Warsak Road, Malagori and Shabqadar to the newly established Mohmand Marble City (Mohmand Economic Zone).
He issued the directives while presiding over the 7th meeting of the Board of Directors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Special Economic Zones Authority (KPSEZA), said a handout.
Special Assistant to CM on Industries Abdul Karim Khan and other board members attended the meeting.
The board agreed to the proposed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Special Economic Zones Authority and approved submission of the same to the Board of Investment, Islamabad for final approval.
The board approved the status of the Special Economic Zone for Mohmand Marble City. It directed the officials concerned to acquire additional land of 2000 acres and prepare a feasibility study for the purpose.
The chief minister directed the official to ensure timely provision of the facilities to investors in all the economic zones.
He said the investors should be made bound to start physical work within the six months after the allotment of the plot in economic zones and in case of failure the allotment of the plot should be cancelled.
Earlier, it was informed that the Federal Board of Investment (BOI) had approved the zone regulations for the Rashakai Special Economic Zone which have been made part of the development agreement already signed.
It was added that the Special Purpose Vehicle of Rashakai Special Economic Zone had been registered with the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
The meeting was also briefed about the latest development on Mohmand Economic Zone and informed that 106 out of 290 plots had already been allotted, adding the 132 KV grid station and a water supply network was available in the zone.
