LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman has said that temporary markets for sacrificial animals for upcoming Eid-ul-Azha will be established in the city from July 3, 2021.

He said this while chairing a meeting on Tuesday. He said the number of animal markets will not be less than last year. He said that seminars on Congo virus should be organised 10 days and 5 days before Eid so that all people could be protected from animal borne diseases. An advertising campaign should also be launched on the provision of facilities, donation of skins and enforcement of laws in animal markets, Commissioner said adding drainage arrangements were essential in view of the threat of rain at sacrificial animal markets and sale points.

The Commissioner Lahore directed that the advertisement campaign should include a directive to give the skins only to the registered organisations. He said at present there will be 12 markets in the city and Section 144 will be enforced to prevent illegal sale points. Police security and patrols around markets and sale points would be enhanced for Eid. He also directed the district administration to create a digital portal of all markets and sale points and upload daily progress.
