Covid-19 claims nine more lives, infects 431 others in Sindh

Covid-19 claimed nine more lives in Sindh during the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 5,427, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in his daily Covid-19 situation report on Monday.

Meanwhile, 608 patients were under treatment at different hospitals, of whom condition of 553 patients was said to be critical while 50 of them had been put onto life support. In addition to the nine deaths overnight in the province, 431 new cases of the viral disease emerged after 11,419 tests were conducted, it constituted a 3.8 percent current detection rate.

So far 4,480,601 tests had been conducted in Sindh, against which 336,490 cases were diagnosed, of which 92.7 per cent or 311,779 patients had recovered, including 405 overnight.

Out of the 431 new cases, 229 were detected from Karachi, including 111 from District East, District South 54, District Central 34, District Korangi 29, District Malir nine and District West seven. Thatta had 24 new cases, Badin 23, Hyderabad and Matiari 15 each, Tando Allahyar 14, Dadu 13, NausheroFeroze and Sanghar 10 each, Shaheed Benazirabad eight, Tando Muhammad Khan seven, Tharparkar, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas five each, Larkan two, Ghotki and Sujwal one each.
