KP hiring

By News Desk

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s decision to hire retired civil and military servants to head various newly-created departments negates the concept of infusing young blood into the civil service. Moreover, the hired officers are domiciled in another province. This has robbed the people of KP of the chance to get employment opportunities. Similarly, the majority of these officers have been facing language barriers and cultural differences that make them incapable of doing their jobs effectively, resulting in the flight of these officers mid-way through a project (resulting in a delay in its execution).

The KP government should therefore pass laws that prohibit retired personnel and officers from working in government-owned and government-managed organisations. To overcome the shortage of experienced officers, the law should clearly state that the hiring period would not exceed three months. During this time the hired person should impart proper training on the junior staff to make up for the lack of experience.
