LG reps in DI Khan set up protest camp, seek powers
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The local government representatives on Thursday set up a protest camp to seek powers and development funds from themselves.
All Nazimeen Ittehad, an alliance of the district and tehsil and deputy nazims, had organised the camp to press the government to empower the local government representatives, provide them with development funds and other incentives.
Rafiullah Gandpur supervised the protest camp held at the GPO Chowk in DI Khan. Tens of councillors and nazims attended the camp.
The participants were chanting slogans against the provincial government. The protestors had also placed a coffin at the camp which was bearing a slogan ‘Murder of local bodies system’. The speakers alleged that they were being kept in dark about the system and not given any development funds or offices.
They threatened to launch a protest campaign if the government did not accept their demands.
