CM says foundation of sustainable development laid
LAHORE : Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the foundation of sustainable development in the province has been laid as a record Rs 560 billion programme will ensure composite development in every district.
He said this during a meeting with Provincial Minister Murad Raas, Members Provincial Assembly Sami Ullah Chaudhry and Asad Khokhar who called on him at CM’s Office on Saturday.
Matters of mutual interest, political situation, development projects especially development programmes of Southern Punjab came under discussion during the meeting. The elected representatives congratulated the Chief Minister on the approval of the new financial year budget 2021-22. Usman Buzdar directed Sami Ullah Ch to finalize the arrangements for laying the foundation stone of Southern Punjab Secretariat in Bahawalpur.
The financial resources of the province were ruthlessly squandered by the previous rulers in exhibitory projects. He termed these exhibitory projects as "white elephants" and further stated that former rulers plundered the resources of Southern Punjab while the incumbent government has given a new identity to the southern region of the province.
He announced that, after Multan, the foundation stone of Southern Punjab Secretariat in Bahawalpur will soon be laid. The government will also provide funds for the widening of Circular Road Bahawalpur, adding that he will soon visit Bahawalpur. The government has given respect to the mandate of Southern Punjab and will continue to do so.
He said that those who had made Pakistani politics contaminated with corruption and mercilessly looted its resources had now become the symbol of shame and disgrace. Only the leaders like Prime Minister Imran Khan could take the country forward, he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that rehabilitation of drug-addicts is the state's responsibility, and the Punjab government had set up a first of its kind state-of-the-art hospital for such people, where quality treatment facilities were available to drug-addicts.
In his message on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the CM said that drug-addicts were not only ignored but unfortunately society did not show any mercy towards them.
He said if we leave the drug-addicts to die in a state of helplessness and depression, it would be tantamount to cruelty as such people deserve sympathy rather than hate. The CM termed the drugs a menace which create socio economic problems. He said that drug-traffickers were the enemy of humanity and the only place for such elements was jail.
Usman Buzdar said that instructions had been issued for arresting the drug-peddlers involved in selling drugs outside educational institutions as such people did not deserve any concession.
The CM said that other segments of society had to come forward to support the government for eradication of drugs and establish a drug-free society.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the murder of a child girl after abduction in the area of Khanewal and sought a report from RPO Multan. The CM ordered for bringing the culprits to the book at the earliest. Usman Buzdar said that justice would be served to the affected family at any cost. He also extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences with the bereaved family. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of former caretaker prime minister Mir Hazaar Khan Khoso.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar paid homage to the services of the late Mir Hazaar Khan Khoso for the country and said that with his demise, Pakistan has lost a patriotic figure.
The Chief Minister prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
