This refers to the article ‘FIA and accountability’ (June 25) by Abdullah Nizamani. It was expected that Imran Khan would revamp the country’s anti-corruption organisations soon after assuming power since the main goal of his election campaign was to eliminate corruption.
In the article, the writer pointed out the key weaknesses of these organisations – from investigation to conviction. A major overhaul of the anti-corruption departments is necessary. Since the number of white-collar crimes is increasing, there is a need to acquire the services of highly qualified accountants and IT experts to improve the working of these organisations.
