MARDAN: Dozens of residents of Marchako Killay Ashrafabad on Thursday staged a protest against the alleged illegal occupation of a plot by a senior bureaucrat.

Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands, the affected families gathered outside the Mardan Press Club, chanted slogans against the bureaucrat and demanded registration of a case against him.

Meanwhile, speaking at a news conference at Mardan Press Club, Khan Mohammad alias Laloki, Akhtar Ali, Siraj and others while explaining the background of the case said they purchased one kanal and eight marla plot of land in front of Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) on August 25, 2009.

They added that they had purchased eight marla from a widow and one kanal from the sister of Khwaja Mohammad Khan.

Later, they said some people submitted a case against them and the local court decided the case in favour of them.

They added that they also constructed a boundary-wall on the mentioned plot.

They alleged that in the holy month of Ramazan, a civil servant, who remained PA of Zulfi Bukhari, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & HRD, occupied their plot.

They demanded the chief justice of Pakistan and Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide them justice or else they would stage a protest outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.
