LHC CJ again rejects apology of SP
LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Friday once again rejected a written unconditional apology by SP Operations Sadar Hafeezur Rehman Bugti about his misstatement in a matter relating to police’s illegal occupation of a citizen’s land.
The chief justice made it clear to the police officer to first admit his guilt if he wants the court to accept his apology.
Earlier, the SP appeared before the court along with his counsel. The counsel submitted the written apology to the court with a request to accept it. Irked by the repeated apologies of the officer, the chief justice observed that the SP has been mocking the court and is not willing to admit his fault. The CJ asked the counsel to admit the guilt in writing then the court would consider the apology. The counsel sought time to make the necessary amendment to the draft of the apology and the CJ adjourned the hearing till June 29.
The SP had claimed that the opinion of the DIG legal has been sought before the police’s visit to the petitioner`s residence. However, the DIG told the court that the matter is not related to his office and he had no meeting with the SP.
