LAHORE: Parveen Sarwar, wife of Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar launched Punjab Police Women Safety App Awareness Campaign.
The launch ceremony for the campaign was held at Punjab Safe Cities Authority Headquarters at Qurban Lines here on Thursday. UNFPA Pakistan chief Dr Bakhtior Kadirov was also present besides the PSCA female staff.
PSCA Chief Operating Officer Muhammad Kamran Khan briefed the participants on the working of the Women Safety App and its features. Parveen Sarwar said the App provided timely assistance to women in an emergency.
She said the purpose of the campaign was to educate and aware women of their rights. Even in the developed countries, such excellent applications for the protection of women are not available, it’s an honour for Pakistan, she added.
UNFPA chief Dr Bakhtior Kadirov said UNFPA would provide maximum possible assistance to create awareness among women about the App across Punjab. For the purpose, a five-day training course was also held at PSCA in collaboration with UNFPA.
The PSCA chief operating officer said the Punjab Safe Cities Authority was running an awareness campaign about the use of Women Safety App in educational institutions. The PSCA has also organised seminars in various educational institutions.
