PESHAWAR: KP Minister for Local Governments & Rural Development (LG&RD) Akbar Ayub Khan Thursday said that the socio-economic empowerment of women was atop priorities’ list of the federal and provincial governments.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of 5-year socio-economic empowerment programme for women under the auspices of USAID and International Rescue Committee held here in a local hotel.
The event was also addressed by USAID Regional Vice President Sanna Johnson, Mission Director Julie A. Quennen, Program Incharge Arshad Nafees Khan and IRC Country Director Zain Al-Abidin, highlighting the program’s aims and objectives. They lauded the steps taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for development of women folk and assured all possible cooperation in this regard. The provincial minister said that the nation could be put on the path of fast-track progress.
