PESHAWAR: Pakistan Railways organised a safety seminar for the train operation staff here on Thursday.
The train operation staff, including master guard category and train drivers and assistant drivers, participated in the activity.
Divisional Transportation Officer Hamid Qureshi and other officials said on the occasion that the seminar was meant to raise awareness among the staff about the safe operation of trains.
The speakers said that train accidents caused human and material losses worth billions of rupees. The seminar participants were informed about causes of accidents, including track’s condition and human error.
They were told that minimising the human errors could help control the
accidents. He said that strictly following the working rule and safety
regulations could help control the accidents. He
said that establishment of safety cells, safety equipment inspection and repair of minor faults on spot would also minimise the accidents.
The speakers asked the station masters to keep an eye on the track along with signals and inform the stations about any emergency situation.
The official said that all the components of the railway system should play their role in controlling the accidents.
He said that in the event of an accident, every department blames others for the accidents, adding that blame-game would not address the situation.
The seminar speakers emphasised on the train drivers to follow the speed limits.
