Emergency plan for development of South Punjab schools

MULTAN: The South Punjab Education Department (SPED) has prepared an emergency plan to provide facilities in schools in the tribal belt of Sulaiman Mountains and upgrade infrastructure of dilapidated schools with free access to children of tribal belt.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is very keen to upgrade school infrastructure in the tribal region on ‘education-for-all’ basis. For this, the SPED has devised a strategy to upgrade the education infrastructure in the tribal belt of Suleman.

Presiding a meeting, the SPED Secretary Dr Ehtasham Anwar said that school facilities are being provided at Tehsil Suleman Mountains on urgent basis. He said the shortage of teachers would be overcome through Students-Teachers Intern program in Tehsil Suleman Mountain schools.

The meeting briefed Secretary Education on development project worth over Rs. 59 million for Government Higher Secondary School Barthi in Taunsa Sharif and construction of new classrooms, IT block, hostel buildings, toilets besides vulnerable school buildings and four walls under Suleiman Mountain Education Package.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary (Admin) of Education Department South Punjab Ata-ul-Haq, Additional Secretary (Schools Education) Muhammad Ansar Sial, DPE (Elementary) South Punjab Tahira Parveen and CEOs of District Education Authority Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
