Islamabad : The Islamabad Marghazar zoo's assets were handed over to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board during a special ceremony here on Wednesday.
The representatives of the IWMB and Capital Development Authority exchanged documents in that respect during a ceremony on the premises of the Islamabad Marghzar.
The IWMB was established in 2015 following a ruling by the Islamabad High Court and the subsequent notification by the then prime minister. It works under and with the support of the Ministry of Climate Change to protect, conserve and manage the Margalla Hills National Park as its legal custodian.
According to IWMB head Rina S Khan, the Margalla Wildlife Centre spread over 82 acres of land including site of the old zoo will be established under PM Imran Khan’s clean and green agenda for overall environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation.
"The board is working on detailed plans for Margalla Wildlife Centre with Join Hands, a registered charitable society guided by the vision that all living beings are treated with dignity, kindness and compassion. The JH team of international wildlife experts will help us build an amazing facility," she said.
