Dacoits continue looting spree

GUJRANWALA: Dacoits looted cash, cell phones and other valuables in 17 incidents here on Wednesday.
Dacoits snatched Rs 15,000 and two cell phones from a man while Zamir was deprived of a motorcycle and one cell phone at Ferozewala. Bandits looted Rs 26,000 from Qaim Ali at Emenabad while robbers took away valuables from Khawaja Munir at Aroop. Dacoits looted cash and other articles from Khaqan at Garjakh while dacoits snatched Rs 13,000 and one cell phone from Shoaib at Dhulley. Mohsin was deprived of a motorcycle at Khiali while robbers snatched Rs 6,000 and one cell phone from Sabir at Cantt. Thieves stole a car of Abdullah from Gakhar Mandi while a motorcycle of Shahid was stolen from Khiali area. Stealers took away cars of Jamshed, Azam, Rashid, Azhar, Imran and Ahsan from different parts of the city.
ACTION AGAINST SMUGGLING ORDERED: Customs Director General Imtiaz Ahmed Khan paid a surprise visit to the Customs Office here and inspected various wings of the department.
The DG expressed his dissatisfaction over the poor performance of the department and directed the officers to take stern action against those involved in smuggling of various items. He warned that smuggling should be stopped otherwise strict action would be taken against negligent officers.
4 THIEVES HELD, STOLEN BIKES RECOVERED: Peoples Colony police on Wednesday arrested four thieves and recovered 11 motorcycles, nine cell phones, cash and illegal arms from them.
DSP Muhammad Khan while talking to media told that the police arrested Bilal, Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Nadeem and Amir Sohail and recovered stolen items from them. The police have registered a case.
