MIRANSHAH: After start of the repatriation process of the internally displaced persons on March 31, the government has so far repatriated 17,547 families in Miranshah and Mir Ali subdivisions of North Waziristan Agency.
They were displaced due to Zarb-e-Azb military operation, launched on June 15, 2014 against the militants in North Waziristan.After most of the areas had been cleared of the militants, the government in March this year decided to send back ?the uprooted families to their native villages and towns in the tribal region.
According to sources, these 17,547 families repatriated so far are the Dawar and Wazir tribespeople. They said 66,779 people had been repatriated in their villages in Miranshah and Mir Ali subdivisions.
Out of them, 50601 people had been provided ration cards and 13194 are given ATM cards.The tribespeople are anxiously waiting to return their native areas and restart their life there.
Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif recently visited North Waziristan and inaugurated a modern Tehsil Headquarter Hospital in Mir Ali.
