PPP, PML-N want to make NAP controversial, says Qureshi
OKARA: PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday said both PPP and PML-N want to make the National Action Plan (NAP) controversial in the backdrop of the Rangers’ powers in Sindh and especially Karachi.
He said all the political parties unanimously agreed upon NAP, adding that the paramilitary force was called in at the request of Sindh government.
He was talking to The News at Bakhshu village where he had arrived to attend the Chehlum of former MNA Rai Muhammad Aslam along with Chaudhry Sarwar, Jahangir Khan Tareen, Ishaq Khakwani, Samsam Bokhari and other party leaders.
Qureshi said the PPP had acknowledged the success of Rangers operation which restored peace in Karachi, resulting in booming business activities. Extortion collection and target killings in the city had been controlled, he added.
But, Qureshi said, the PPP had turned against the Rangers operation to conceal corruption, personal interests and poor governance. He said the PPP should the court, if it considered delegation of powers to Rangers an attack on Sindh.
Qureshi said the PPP was trying to spread provincialism and hatred for its own benefit, which was tantamount to disintegrating the Federation.
However, he added that he supported the PPP demand to initiate action against terrorism, corruption and other social evils in whole of the country.
Qureshi said the PTI believed in peace and elimination of corruption, adding that no party should create dispute with any national institution.
Responding to a question about Modi’s visit, Qureshi said the meeting between two heads of states had never been publicised as a surprise visit and everything was pre-arranged. However, the PTI supported the visit.
“PTI Chairman Imran Khan is a supporter of both countries reviewing their past.”Qureshi Pakistan should raise the Kashmir issue in the upcoming meeting of foreign secretaries. The PML-N government must take all the political parties into confidence and share the agenda of meetings between the two prime ministers, he added.
