HARIPUR: The doctors here on Wednesday threatened to launch a district-wide protest if the deputy commissioner was not transferred within 48 hours for his alleged misbehaviour with a doctor during his visit to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

During the general body meeting, doctors accused the deputy commissioner Tasleem Khan of using abusive language and manhandling Dr Irshad Yousaf. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hasnain Raza, president DAH, said that the matter was taken up with the secretary health KP and commissioner but they received no response from them.

He threatened to launch protest if the DC was not transferred within 48 hours. He said all the doctors from public and private sectors would observe complete strike across the district. He said that the protest would be extended to other parts of Hazara division later.

When contacted, an official of the deputy commissioner office said that following public complaints of absenteeism, Deputy Commissioner Tasleem Khan along with Public Information Officer Qasim Shah paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters Hospital on December 21.

During the visit, Dr Irshad Yousaf, child specialist, was found absent from the duty. However, the said doctor managed to reach the hospital at 11am.
