PESHAWAR: Syndicate of the University of Peshawar has approved Rs4515 million budget for the year 2021-22.
An official statement from the university said that the syndicate met with UoP Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Idrees in the chair.
Justice (r) Syed Afsar Shah, Chief Minister Complaint Cell chairman Dolroz Khan, Pro-VC Dr Muhammad Abid, Prof Dr Saleem, Prof Dr Bushra Hamid, Prof Dr Fazle Nasir, Dr Zakirullah Jan, and FG Girls College principal Ms Samina attended the meeting.
The participants discussed the minutes of the Finance and Planning Committee. The participants also decided not to increase fees of students. They also decided to give 40% discount to students in fee at hostels because they did not use electricity and generators due to the corona pandemic in the premises.
Also, a decision was taken to provide all the university students the free-of-cost provision of Turnitin software, which is used to check plagiarism in research.
A task force committee was also reorganised, with an aim to solve the financial issues of the university on long-term basis. The meeting did not discuss the Higher Education Department’s letter regarding reforms, as the said letter had been held in abeyance by the provincial government recently.
