Petition against dyke at Ravi: LHC Multan Bench seeks reply from irrigation secy
MULTAN: Senior lawyer Kanwar Intizar Muhammad Khan has claimed that Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal of the Lahore High Court Multan Bench has sought explanation from the Punjab Irrigation secretary in connection with a petition filed against the construction of a dyke at River Ravi.
Talking to journalists, the lawyer said that ex-MPA Ghulam Jafar Sargana wanted to construct a dyke in his constituency PP-212 Basti Kund Sargana to protect his and relative’s agriculture lands at the west bank of River Ravi near Kabirwala. The construction of the dyke would affect Mauzas Havali Mubarak Shah, Noor Mirali, Saei Mirali and Bati Bangla, besides crops over 5km would be destroyed, he told. He argued that judges of the LHC Multan Bench had directed the Punjab Irrigation secretary to resolve the problem. After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing.
