Punjabi not language of abuses: Fakhar

LAHORE: World Punjabi Congress Chairman Fakhar Zaman has strongly condemned the remarks of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sharif MNA Rohail Asghar about Punjabi language which he gave on the floor of the assembly the other day that hurling abuses is part of Punjab culture

World Punjabi Congress Chairman Fakhar Zaman, in a statement,” said he condemned the irresponsible statement by the MNA. There are many other languages which I would not like to mention which are known as the languages of abuses.” He said Punjabi was not the langue of abuses. It the language of Sufis, language of tolerance, love and brotherhood, he said.

Fakhar Zaman said, “I am surprised on the criminal silence of the Punjabi members on such remarks.” He maintained, “We have been struggling for the last 30 years that Punjabi should be given the rightful status like other languages of the provinces.

We have advocated with full force that Punjabi should be made the language of instructions at the primary level and the first ever Punjabi University should be established in Lahore. But, unfortunately, our demands have been preliminary ignored by the vested group.”

He warned of holding demonstrations in front of Punjab Assembly if such remarks about Punjabi given by the NA members. the such members of the National Assembly of holding their tongue otherwise we will.
