Khidmat Cards distributed among disabled in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: A ceremony was organised to distribute Khidmat Cards for providing financial assistance to the disabled here on Tuesday.
The function was held at the Commissioner Office in which Divisional Commissioner Capt (retd) Nasim Nawaz, RPO Ehsan Tufail, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, MNAs Haji Akram Ansari, Begum Khalida Mansoor, MPAs Haji Ilyas Ansari, Haji Khalid Saeed, Fatima Fareeha, Rao Kashif Rahim and officers of concerned departments participated.
It was informed that more than 10,000 physically and mentally disabled deserving men, women, children and old persons of Faisalabad Division were being assessed by the medical boards for evaluating their entitlement of the Khidmat Cards.
The Khidmat Card holders would get Rs 3,600 after every three months through ATM and notified payment centres of the Bank of Punjab, it was informed. Speaking on the occasion, various speakers said that revolutionary steps were being taken for welfare and rehabilitation of deserving persons and launching of the Khidmat Cards was a great initiative of Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif.
They said that the Punjab government had allocated Rs 2 billion funds during the current financial year and more than 200,000 disabled of Punjab would get benefit from this programme.
Under this programme, they added, artificial human organs, wheel chairs and other supporting instruments would also be provided to the disables for making their routine life easier. They maintained that interest free loans and vocational training would also be provided to the disabled.
The commissioner informed that transparent process was underway for the assessment of the disabled and the Khidmat Cards would be provided to those who would be declared disabled by the medical assessment boards, which had been established at the district and tehsils headquarter hospitals. Later, the members of the Parliament distributed the Khidmat Cards among the disabled.
