NAWABSHAH: The Commissioner of Nawabshah, Dr Waseem Ali, has sent a requisition to the Sindh Home Minister for posting of Army troops at all the polling stations here in view of the incidents that occurred in Khairpur and Sanghar.  Polling in the second phase of the local government elections postponed last month is now being held here today.

Meanwhile, SSP Pervez Umrani has advised the political parties taking part in the LG elections to prevent the influx of their workers from outside the district. He appealed to the leaders of the political parties to cooperate with the police in order to ensure the law and order situation. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Soho has announced public holiday in Taluka Nawabshah and Taluka Daur on the occasion of the LG elections on December 30 (today).

The polling staff have been assigned duties and provided with election material.  Election Commissioner Nadeem Mehmood said that 182,165 voters would cast their votes to elect public representative on 43 wards of Nawabshah Municipal Committee, nine wards of Town Committee Daur and for three union councils. He said that 169 polling stations have been declared as the most sensitive.
