KP secretary food held over graft charges

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission on Tuesday arrested Secretary Food Sahibzada Fazal Amin who had also served as secretary Social Welfare Board for alleged involvement in misappropriation of millions of rupees.

An official of the Ehtesab Commission said that the top official of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was arrested for his alleged involvement in millions of rupees corruption as he had opened illegal bank accounts for the purpose.

As per the details, issued by the Ehtesab Commission, the suspect as secretary Social Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was involved in misappropriation of huge funds.  The KPEC stated in its communiqué that he as Vice-Chairman of the Commission and Secretary Social Welfare allowed opening/running of parallel accounts in private banks against financial rules/regulations both for grants in aid and donors funds.

It claimed the suspect caused a loss of millions of rupees to the exchequer. An official of the KPEC claimed that the accused secretary had cause a loss of over Rs110 million to the exchequer.

He will be produced before the Ehtesab Court today for obtaining his physical remand. Earlier, the Ehtesab Commission had arrested director Social Welfare Department Imtiaz Ayub and other officers in the case.

The KPEC had also started investigation against the former Social Welfare Minister Sitara Ayaz now a senator of the Awami National Party, in this case. But she had secured restraining order from the Peshawar High Court.
