LAHORE: Declaring corruption as a major obstacle in the way to development and prosperity, Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said NAB truly believes in zero corruption and its goal is hundred percent development.
According to a press release, the NAB chairman expressed these views while chairing a high-level briefing in the NAB Lahore Bureau. While admiring the performance of NAB Lahore, Justice Javed Iqbal stated that NAB Lahore has massively contributed to the overall performance of NAB.
During the meeting, it was stressed to conclude mega corruption scandals by developing sound evidences, so the looted public money may be recovered from corrupt elements without any delay.
Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal directed for implementation on court rulings. He said cases be prepared based on concrete evidence supported with witnesses’ statements, as per law. He stressed for enhanced mutual coordination and understanding between investigation officers and prosecutors to prepare cases in line with documentary evidence and scientific grounds.
For obtaining convictions in corruption cases and recovering the looted money involved in corruption scandals, the witness list should be precise but based on effective ones, he said.
He said NAB also investigated those in corruption scandals who were once unapproachable, adding NAB has dreamed of a corruption-free Pakistan as its destination. NAB is the prime national graft-busting organisation, he said, adding our officers are discharging their duties with a commitment to eradicate corruption from the country.
NAB has no affiliation with any political party, group or individual except the state of Pakistan, the chairman said, adding NAB would continue to work while remaining under the ambit of law without caring for any kind of pressure, threat and baseless allegations. NAB always ascertained the self-respect of anyone, he said.
