Over a dozen farmers booked for not allowing land survey
LAHORE:Police have registered a case against more than a dozen farmers for not allowing the officials of River Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) to carry out land survey.
The incident took place on Tuesday last when some RUDA officials visited Kala Khattai Road for carrying out a land survey but the locals stopped them and blocked the road in protest. The local farmers and protesters claimed that Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) had already abstained RUDA from carrying out any survey in the area till the final decision of the case. They blocked the road and chanted slogans against RUDA for not following the court orders.
However, on Wednesday RUDA Executive Director Mansoor Ahmed submitted an application with police against the protesters and police registered a case on his complaint. According to the text of the FIR, Chaudhry Sajjad Warraich and Bao Bhatti along with 10 unidentified persons were booked in the case.
The FIR stated that Sajjad Warraich and Bao Bhatti interfered in the work of RUDA officials, blocked the traffic on Kala Khatai Road and instigated locals against RUDA officials. Police registered the case under sections 506-B, 382, 342, 353, 186, 147 and 148 against the protestors who were the affectees by the project.
