Judiciary staff protest killing of colleague in Nowshera
NOWSHERA: The staff of district judiciary on Tuesday boycotted the courts to protest the murder of their colleague, urging the police to arrest the accused forthwith.
Manzoor Shah, a reader at the district and sessions court, Nowshera, was shot dead by their rivals when he along with his brother was going to Peshawar.
Zahir Shah, brother of the slain reader, told the police that they were going to Peshawar from Nowshera in their car (LOK-5330).
He said that when they reached Bakra Mandi, their rivals Sadiq Muhammad and Said Muhammad, who were riding a motorcycle, opened indiscriminate fire on them.
As a result, Manzoor Shah sustained serious bullet injuries.
He said that his brother later succumbed to the injuries while being taken to the hospital.
The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
Soon after the incident, the entire staff of the district judiciary boycotted the courts and in a procession went to the residence of slain colleague in Soryakhel in Akora Khattak.
The protestors, led by Superintendent Abdul Mateen, demanded the police to arrest the accused forthwith or else they would launch a protest movement.
