National junior tennis rolls into action
ISLAMABAD: Amna Ali Qayum got off to a winning start in the Under-18 girls’ event in the 2nd PTF Development Series Junior National Ranking Tennis tournament that started Tuesday here at the PTF Complex.
Amna defeated Zahra Khan 6-0, 6-0 to make it to the second round. As many as 23 matches were played on the opening day.
The players were excited to compete against each other in different categories after a long time due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Now when the coronavirus positivity rate stands below one percent in Islamabad, sports activities have started in the city.
Still the ITF Covid-19 SOPs were observed and no spectators were allowed to witness the matches as per the government’s policy. The PTF’s management ensured proper arrangements for observing the Covid-19 SOPs.
