Senior journalist Raja Tariq passes away in Karachi

KARACHI: Senior journalist and former Jang News chief reporter Raja Tariq died in a hospital of cardiac failure on Sunday night. He was laid to rest in a local graveyard. His Soyem will be held at Masjid-e-Wusta today (Tuesday) after Asr prayers. His funeral prayers were offered at a Masjid-e-Wusta near to his residence at FC Area, Karachi after Zuhr prayers on Monday which was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. People from different walks of life including Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar, Additional IG Karachi Imran Yaqoob Minhas as well as different journalists’ bodies also expressed grief on the sad demise of the senior journalist and prayed for his forgiveness. Raja Tariq, whose names considered among the senior journalists, received a major cardiac arrest after he reached near to his residence at FC Area, Karachi from Karachi Press Club. “He was fit and fine,” says a fellow journalist Amir Khan. “He returned from KPC and was standing at the Pan shop as per routine where he received a major heart attack.” Raja Tariq was considered a senior journalist as he has been associated with the different media sections, especially newspapers. He served in the media industry for over 40 years. He had also served as a chief reporter at the Daily Jang newspaper. Currently, he associated with the private news channel as a senior reporter for Karachi Bureau from the last seven years. Besides a general secretary for Crime Reporters of Pakistan (CRAP), he was also the member of the Karachi Press Club and Karachi Union of Journalists.
