Sarwar announces largest clean drinking water project
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has announced the largest project of the Aab-e-Pak Authority in Punjab. Without any political discrimination, six filtration plants will be installed in each constituency of the National Assembly in Punjab whereas three filtration plants each will be installed in all constituencies of the Provincial Assembly. Federal Ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and other ministers expressed full confidence in the performance of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority and appreciated the steps taken by Punjab Governor.
According to a statement issued from Governor’s House Lahore, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar hosted a reception for the ministers and National Assembly members from Punjab regarding the projects of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority. Federal Ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of State Farrukh Habib, Zartaj Gul, Parliamentary Secretaries Dr Noshin Hamid, Malaika Bukhari, Assembly Members and ministers were present on this occasion. Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Chairman Dr Shakeel Ahmed briefed about the ongoing projects of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority.
Addressing the reception, the governor said that regardless of major challenges, the bureaucracy of Punjab, the federal government, the Punjab government and the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority were on the same page.
The provision of clean drinking water will not be delayed even for a minute and PAPA will be working diligently in this regard. In the first phase, the Authority will install six filtration plants each in all constituencies of the National Assembly in Punjab whereas three each filtration plants will be installed in constituencies of the Provincial Assembly. “We will also install filtration plants in the constituencies where the opposition parties’ leaders have been successful as the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority will ensure the provision of safe drinking water without any political discrimination”, he said.
Chaudhry Sarwar said that the previous governments spent billions of rupees on clean drinking water projects but their performance remained zero and all their filtration plants were shut down but Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority will not only be completely corruption-free but we will ensure that all filtration plants continue to provide clean drinking water to the people.
More filtration plants will be set up in the National and Provincial Assembly constituencies as per the need. He added that every promise made to the nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister would be fulfilled.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser while commending the Authority said, “We want to establish a similar authority in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to ensure the provision of clean drinking water supply for the people. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the federal government was with the Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority regarding the provision of clean drinking water in Punjab and would extend full cooperation wherever required.
