NOWSHERA: Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak said on Sunday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was offering a solution to all the problems faced by the countrymen.
“The federal government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken the country out of all financial troubles and presented a balanced budget which has shocked the opposition which is practising the politics of furthering personal interests,” he said while speaking at a function at his hometown of Manki Sharif in the Nowshera district.
Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak, MPAs Ibrahim Khattak, Ishaq Khattak and others were present on the occasion where several political workers announced joining the ruling party.
Pervez Khattak said the main opposition parties such as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam did not take any tangible steps to improve the economy when these were in power in the past. “The country was under huge foreign debt and nobody was willing to make investment in Pakistan in the yesteryears. The economic policies were flawed that weakened the country but the present PTI government has improved the situation,” said the defence minister.
He was critical of the opposition parties and accused them of making repeated bids to fool the people with catchy slogans. “One party used the slogan of roti, kapra aur makaan, other tried to mislead masses in the name of Pakhtun nationalism while yet another used the religion to further their own interests,” said the defence minister.
Pervez Khattak said times had changed now, adding people were no longer ready to be misled by such slogans as they have become politically mature. “They now want only tangible measures and sincere service delivery which only the PTI government is offering,” he added.
The defence minister advised the opposition parties to quit the politics of saving what he believed was protecting their tainted leadership.
Pervez Khattak enumerated the services he had rendered to his native district of Nowshera and said he had ensured development funds worth over Rs 100 billion for the area so far.
