ISLAMABAD: Former head coach Mohsin Hassan Khan has said anyone who earned the country a bad name due to involvement in spot fixing should not be taken back in the national team.

Talking to TV channel on Sunday night he said that it was shocking to note that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had forgotten what the tainted trio of Salman Asif and Mohammad Amir had done to the country’s reputation.

“Some people who themselves remained involved in corruption in the past were lobbying to bring back these players back into the team,” he added.

“These are the people who are supporting tainted players for their own personal benefits,” he said.

Mohsin said that the Scotland Yard police and International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded penalties to tainted trio but the PCB had never taken action against them.

Mohsin also called for implementation of Justice Malik Qayyum’s report which he insisted contained details of how individuals at the helm of affairs were proactively engaged in destroying the game.

“Had that report been implemented the situation would have been different today,” he maintained.

He was of the view that Pakistan team received a lot of unfair flak as a result of the trio’s doings and the board should realise that humiliation.

He said it took several years for Pakistan team to rebuild its reputation and including any of the tainted players again in the team could ruin the team’s reputation again.

“The trio have not done any petty misdoing but have maligned the name of Pakistan,” he said.

Former T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez and current one-day skipper Azhar Ali recently refused to train alongside tainted pacer (Amir) in the national training camp in Lahore for the tour of New Zealand. The issue however was resolved by the PCB.
