‘NAB committed to logical conclusion of mega corruption cases’
ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Thursday said the NAB is committed to logical conclusion of mega corruption cases through vigorous prosecution as per law so that the billions of rupees looted money could be recovered from corrupt elements and deposited in the national exchequer.
“The NAB will not come under any pressure in discharging its national duties to eradicate corruption by adopting accountability for all policy,” he said while chairing a monthly meeting to review the performance of the NAB at the NAB headquarters on Thursday. Javed directed all concerned to complete inquiries and investigations on merit and in light of concrete documentary evidence.
He said the NAB performance is excellent as compared to other anti-corruption institutions and it has been recognised by reputed national and international organisations. He directed all regional bureaus to present fresh reports about illegal housing societies and Modarba cases so that the latest progress could be reviewed as per law. He said the NAB is determined to eradicate the menace of corruption by devising an effective corruption combating strategy. He said the last three years’ comparative performance report testifies excellent performance of the NAB.
He said according to Gilani and Gallup survey findings, some 59 per cent people have expressed satisfaction over the NAB performance. Some 1273 corruption references are currently under trial in accountability courts. The NAB has established a modern forensic laboratory in its Rawalpindi Bureau and this lab has helped improve the standard of inquiries and investigations.
