Injured lawyer of knife attack expires in Quetta

QUETTA/ISLAMABAD: A lawyer, who was injured in Quetta knife attack the other day, expired during treatment in hospital.
According to details Azmat Ullah Kasi Advocate was injured after an unknown accused attacked him with a sharp edged knife at Double Road of Quetta. He was under treatment at Quetta hospital where he breathed his last and his body was handed over to heirs after legal formalities.
Balochistan Bar Council has strongly condemned murder of senior lawyer and demanded for early arrest of accused.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Thursday announced that the legal fraternity will observe nationwide strike today (Friday) against the brutal murder of Senior Advocate Malik Azmat Ullah Kasi in Quetta and registration of FIRs against Member Sindh Bar Council Sajjad Ahmad Chandio and Senior Advocate of High Court Sindh Ayaz Latif Palejo by the Sindh Police.
In a statement issued here, chairman, vice chairman and, Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, have strongly condemned the brutal murder of Malik Azmat Ullah Kasi the other day and utter failure of the law enforcement agencies in maintaining and improving the law and order situation in Balochistan to provide safety and security to citizens in general & especially the advocates of Balochistan, and to control the target killing.
They urged upon the federal and provincial governments as well as the IG Police Balochistan for improving the law and order situation in the country & to arrest the culprits immediately and award them exemplary punishment failing which the lawyers’ community of Pakistan will chalk out their future course of action.
They also strongly condemned the false and baseless registration of FIRs against Sajjad Ahmad Chandio, Member, Sindh Bar Council and Ayaz Latif Palejo, Senior Advocate, High Court of Sindh by the Sindh Police, under Anti-Terrorism Act and demanded from IG Sindh to direct the concerned authorities to delete the names of Sajjad Ahmad Chandio and Ayaz Latif Palejo from the said false FIRs and take action against the responsible police officials.
In condemnation of the aforesaid acts and expressing solidarity with the family members of the bereaved advocate, and illegal & unlawful act of the Sindh Police, the lawyers throughout the country will observe complete strike today (Friday, the 11th June, 2021) and will not appear in the courts.
