PESHAWAR: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries Central Standing Committee on Railways convener, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, has demanded the federal government to take practical steps for the restoration of goods train with Iran and Turkey.
In a press statement, he said goods train service could serve as a great source of business for Pakistan, Iran and Turkey.
The restoration of the goods train service will not only help in transport of merchandise among the neighbouring countries in a limited time but also at reasonable prices due to low transportation charges and taxes.
“Increase in business among the three countries will help in strengthening relations in the region and benefit a large number of people”, said Zia-ul-Sarhadi.
Pointing to another benefit of the service, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, who has served as a leader of the Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), said the train service could also be run for the promotion of tourism.
