Sindh gets time to argue in Daniel Pearl’s case
ISLAMABAD: Accepting Sindh prosecutor general's plea, the Supreme Court on Wednesday granted two-week time to him for presenting additional documents and concluding his arguments in US Journalist Daniel Pearl murder case.
Salman Saqib and other accused persons through their counsel had lodged a complaint in the apex court that they were not being provided medical and other facilities at the apartment in which they have been detained. Faisal Hussain Chaudhry, Additional Advocate General Punjab, however, had assured the court that the movement ban on Ahmed Omer Shaikh would be relaxed.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mushir Alam had, in a short order by a majority of two to one, had acquitted Ahmed Omer Saeed Sheikh by extending the benefit of doubt to him. The court had ordered that Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and other three accused Fahad Naseem Ahmed, Syed Salman Saqib and Sheikh Muhammad Adil be set free forthwith, if not required in any other case. The Sindh government however, through its Prosecutor General had filed a review a petition in the apex court against its order releasing all the accused in Daniel Pearl murder case.
