Water and power scarcity across speaks of govt’s failure, says Siraj
LAHORE: The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, Siraj-ul-Haq, has said the economic plight of the majority of people of the country had neither changed in the past nor in the three-year PTI rule, except the narrow majority of capitalists and feudals who have become richer with the so-called improvement in the economy and increase in growth rate, he added.
Siraj-ul-Haq was addressing a meeting of the party office-bearers at Mansoorah on Wednesday. He lamented that long power outages had resumed and the clamouring by members of the ruling PTI on the issue in parliament poses a question mark over the government's performance. “People in Karachi and Balochistan are protesting against the unavailability of clean drinking water, but the government sees its performance only from newspaper reports." He said the government has refrained from holding local bodies elections in the last three years, which speaks volumes of prime minister's commitment to democracy. Similarly, the Presidency has been used instead of the parliament for legislation, Siraj said. The provinces and Federation are in conflict over every issue.
He said the oppressive elite is trying to enforce Western culture and is opposing the single curriculum for the children of the rich and the poor. Warning that hate attacks on Muslims in Europe, US and Canada show a terrible increase, the JI Ameer called upon the West to come up with an effective plan to prevent terrorism and persecution of Muslims in every region of the world, including Kashmir and Palestine.
