LANDIKOTAL: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sanaullah Abbasi handed over 30 recovered cars to the owners at Shakas Police Lines in Jamrud on Wednesday.
A large number of civil and police officers and the owners of the cars attended the ceremony.
Capital City Police Officer Ahsan Abbasi and DIG Training Syed Imtiaz Shah were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanaullah Abbasi praised the district police officer (DPO) Khyber and the performance of the anti-car lifting cell.
He said anti-car lifting cells would be established in other districts. He said the police force was working to de-weaponize the society and take action against drug pushers.
The IGP handed over to the owners 30 cars that had been stolen from various parts of the country. He gave commendation certificates to anti-car lifting cell in-charge Abid Afridi and his team.
Additional SHO Zulfiqar was given special award for seizing five kg of ice drug in a recent raid and arresting three accused.
Earlier, DPO Waseem Riaz briefed the provincial police chief about the recovery of drugs.
The IGP was informed that the Khyber police had so far recovered 148 kg heroin, 5kg ice drug in the last few months. He said five narcotics factories were also sealed in Khyber, adding that 30 stolen cars were handed over to owners this month.
Rustam Ali, a resident of Lahore, said his car was stolen in 2012 from Lahore. Hamid Shahzad hailing from Malakand said his car was lifted a year ago.
