Former Gulistan-e-Jauhar SHO and two other police officials have been suspended on charges of gross misconduct and supporting illegal occupants in encroachments on a private property in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

The information to this effect was provided by the East SSP to the Sindh High Court during a recent hearing. Filing a compliance report before the SHC with regard to the arrest of culprits, who in defiance of the court order, had encroached upon a woman’s property with the connivance of police, the SSP submitted that disciplinary action was also recommended against the Sharea Faisal DSP on account of his misconduct.

The high court was informed that former Gulistan-e-Jauhar SHO Abdullah Bhutto had been suspended and awarded a major punishment of reduction in his rank from a sub-inspector to an assistant sub-inspector while duty officer ASI Suresh and intelligence officer Bilal had been suspended with a major punishment of reduction in their ranks and transferred to the police headquarters with an immediate effect.

A single bench of the SHC headed by Justice Nazar Akbar had ordered an inquiry and action against illegal occupants and police officials of the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station, who, instead of complying with the court order with regard to handing over the possession of the property to the woman, supported the illegal occupants and allowed them to re-occupy the property.

The high court observed that the entire exercise of the execution of court orders with police aid was an eyewash since the police practically supported the illegal occupants and managed to prepare a report stating that the court order had been followed.

The SHC had earlier decreed in favour of the woman with regard to her claim on a 400-square-yard property situated in the Architects and Engineers Employees Cooperative Society in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The court had directed the Nazir of the court to take over the property from the illegal occupants and hand it over to the woman.
